- Contemporary art is art that belongs to the present time. It includes (and is developed from) postmodern art. At any point in history the making of new art is always contemporary. Offering a fresh perspective, and bringing in new techniques and materials.

- There are no limitations or commonly used materials and techniques. The current contemporary artists can still use traditional paint and pencils, but others use photography, light, sound and installation.
Why do artists choose to use these materials and techniques?
- The contemporary artists of today use whatever materials and techniques they think will suit their intentions most appropriately. They like experimentation with different techniques/ materials.
What are the key subject matters explored?
- Matters relating to consumerism, materialism in the modern society, the environment, politically incorrect issues, stereotypes, etc.
