Identify the concept/theme they are attempting to explore within these sculptures.
Christo and Jeanne-Claude artworks demonstrates their determination to see their ideas through to completion, which had resulted successfully, they're main hope was for this installment to be atheistically pleasing to the audience and grab their attention.
Explain why these sculptures work well within the site.
The artists have in mind a specific site, structure or location in mind. But they pick a site which would convey their message or enhance meaning.
Discuss how your group might use one or more of these sculptures as inspiration for your own sculpture.
Our group might use some of their sculptures as inspiration, to enhance our wrapped project, we may use something man made, such as toilet paper, or cardboard, to cover and hide something else which is man-made, which others seem to take for granted and see the viewers reactions, and how they'd act about the situation.

Step 3: Ideas
Produce THREE different design concepts that you may like to explore through your wrapped sculpture.
1. Wrapping the one boy and girl bathroom mirrors, with magazine papers
2. Wrapping the school cross fully with any sort of wrapping paper
3. Wrapping the large tree in front of canteen with pages of books
Name each of these design concepts and explain how you think you will go about exploring and creating these design concepts.
1. Wrapping the boys and girls bathroom mirrors with magazines papers, was one of our main ideas, just to explore and give us an idea on how young teenagers are always looking at themselves, and how they are caring for their appearance way too much now a days. We chose to wrap two boys and two girls toilet mirrors, to see how the students would react and we were curious if they'd walk to the only bathroom, which still had mirrors. We want to explore the different reactions we have between boys and girls, wondering if they would read the magazine papers, walk away, or tear it down.
2. Our idea of wrapping the school cross with wrapping paper, just like a present being wrapped up, was to show how our faith is a gift, and that no one should be taking it for granted. We were curious at the reactions we would have with the school, if people would even notice, or if people were angry at the fact the cross was covered, or if people would unwrap it.
3. Our final idea was to wrap the large tree in front of the canteen with book pages, we chose this tree because we know that this area is a large spot for many years to sit at recess and lunch. We thought of using book pages basically so that the students could read to themselves, if they weren't in the socialising mood, or if they would vandalise or ruin the pages.
Select the concept design your group will explore in your wrapped sculpture. Your final design may include design features from any of your previous design concepts.
Our final design concept will be to wrap the bathroom mirrors with magazine papers.
Label the materials within your design concept:
Magazine papers, and sticky tape.
Justify your groups’ selection of this design concept:
We thought that this would be a good idea, as they were so many different results that could come out of this, and our group was actually quite curious to see if people would walk all the way to the untouched bathroom just to look at themselves. Many of us already had an idea of the reactions some of the students would have, so we are quite excited to see what will happen.

Photograph the site you will be working with.
List the tools, materials and resources you will need in order to create your sculpture.
- Magazines
- Black cardboard
- Black and White paint
- Scissors
- Tape
Explain how your sculpture explores a theme similar to that of Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
Our sculpture explores themes similar to Christo and Jeanne-Claude as we
Describe how your sculpture transforms the original site and provokes a change in thought about the original site.
The original site (mirror) was there for people who use the toilets to look at themselves, but because we covered it, no one could stare at themselves, which changed the whole use of the object, they were only able to look at models and celebrities, unless of course they destroyed the sculpture to get to the mirror.
List the steps your group will follow to create the sculpture within the 1-hour lesson provided.
1. Tear celebrities out of magazine papers
2. Tape these pictures creating a collage on to the bathroom mirror
3. Cross out and circle 'perfect features' girls notice in celebrities
4. Paint on black cardboard a quote or saying for girls to love themselves, and focus on each other rather listening to the media.
5. Repeat this in the second bathroom mirror
State how you intend to document your sculpture- during the physical making stages, the finished product and the deconstruction of your sculpture. How do you intend to present your documentation?
We intend to take photos throughout the process, and photograph the end results of the sculpture.

Step 8: Evaluation
1. In our wrapped sculpture we used the following materials:
Magazine papers, sticky tape, black and white paint, black cardboard.
2. We chose to use these materials because they symbolize the following ideas in the following ways…
We chose magazine papers, primarily pictures of women, that the media depicts as 'perfect' and/or 'ideal' mainly to represent the idea of young girls desiring to look like these women. We incorporated black paint to circle and cross out features of these models, that young girls predominately desire.
3. We attached these materials together using…
We attached the magazines with sticky tape.
4. We chose to use the site we did because…
This is where girls mainly look at themselves, and these were the main girls bathrooms.
5. This site enhanced our ideas because…
This enhanced our idea because we covered the main feature of the bathroom so everyone who entered saw it and it really grabbed their attention, which is what all girls pay a lot of attention too, as they are so focused on their self appearance.
6. In our design we transformed the original site in the following ways…
We transformed the mirror, into a kind of bill board on what girls wish and hope to see in the mirror.
7. Changing the site in this way aimed to provoke the following changes in thought…
By simply covering just the mirror, we aimed to provoke some sort of response from the girls, mainly anger and irritation just to clarify that young girls care about their appearance way too much, and think that its such a priority to look good at school.
8. Our final sculpture changed from our original design concept in the following ways…
Our original idea was to cover both boys and girls toilet mirrors with magazines, but we were not able to go into the boys bathroom, as our whole group were girls. We also planned to cover all toilet mirrors, but we ended up leaving the senior girls bathrooms, which is on the opposite side of the school from the other toilets, just to see if girls were willing to walk all the way to that bathroom to stare at themselves in these mirrors.
9. What areas of the sculpture do you think work the best? Why?
I personally think that all the black paint, circling and crossing out features of these celebrities worked best, as it enhanced the meaning of girls not having to look that exact way. We chose black, as it doesn't stand out, therefore that would not be the girls main focus.
10. If you had the opportunity to create the sculpture again, what areas of the sculpture would you attempt to improve? Why?
I would definitely try and improve the materials, as i thought that just magazine papers was just too simplistic, i would have liked to used something rather than paper and cardboard, as i should have looked outside of the box.
11. How do you think you could go around improving these features?
Next time our group should have brainstormed different materials that would as well enhance our idea, so that the sculpture isn't too simple.
Documentation.
12. How do your photographs (and video) enhance the ideas you were exploring in your sculpture?
Our photographs enhance our ideas, as we photographed the finish look and the difference to the final look as the sculpture had been damaged and ripped off, this was because students were not happy with the mirror being covered. This enhances our idea of young girls caring about their appearance way too much, going to the extreme to rip off the magazine papers and throwing them on the floor.
13. In what ways could these be improved?
Our photographs could have been improved if we had actually photographed each step, and the final look to both sculptures, but because out team was a little too distracted we did not notice we hadn't taken all the photos we needed, or wanted. Next time we could have been more organised and know what we should and shouldn't photograph. We could have improved by taking a video, too see more reactions from the girls in the bathroom.
Working collaboratively.
14. What were the challenges of working in a team?
The challenges of working in a team, would be that our group had all these different ideas, and it was difficult to just pick one, another challenge about working in a team, is that we all got distracted with each other, and especially as a team we got off topic quite a lot, as we were working with magazines, which gave us a lot to gossip about.
15. How could these be addressed (and eliminated) in the future?
Next time we could just avoid reading or discussing articles and photos in the magazines, and work more on our art sculpture and talk about how we can improve it, rather then gossiping.
16. What were the positives of working in a team?
The positives on working in a team was that working with others, makes the experience so much more fun, and definitely opens up ideas and thoughts, as they would all express their opinions and thoughts on our ideas, working in a team helps with my communication skills, and lets me get to know more people.
17. What strategies did you find helped promote positive working relationships and productivity when working collaboratively?
We let everyone have a say, and let everyone give their ideas on what they wanted to make, we made sure that the whole group agreed on the main idea, so there were not dramas or conflicting.
18. How did you approach to this collaborative task change from your last task?
I approached this task with more of an open mind, rather then thinking of all the negative outcomes that group work could possibly lead to, and i enjoyed it much more because of that. I heard all the team's thoughts and opinions, and actually listened to what they had to say, and that helped me explore more ideas and expanded my perception a little more.
19. How would you approach a collaborative task in the future?
I would next time make sure that everyone is contributing and just make sure everyone is on task, rather then being sidetracked all the time. But besides that i think i would approach tasks in the future the same way.
